I would add a note of caution about that amanita, which, in its infant state, is responsible for unhappy experiences involving whole families at times. At least in Italy where perhaps people are a bit too cavalier about IDing the little eggs.
Good advice about the amanita, Nancy - will add a note. The one painted was bought in Sienna market - might not have dared myself - pricey, but it was irresistable beautiful! There's a reprint of Peter Jordan's "Mushroom Guide & Identifier" with new notes from a mycologist just out - good photos n useful advice about no-good look-alikes....
